Aveton Gifford and a Classic car show Monday 29th August 2011

This small village between Modbury and Kingsbridge, in the South Hams, held a classic car show in aid of charity today.  The road out of the village runs beside a river estuary and at certain times is impassable as the tide covers the road.

The Car show was organised by Tony Porter who once owned Burgh Island and has written a novel about it.

The village of Ide and Exeter Quay - sunday 28th August 2011

Following the Good Pub Guide we find the Poachers Inn at Ide.  So quiet in this pub, but the food was so delicious that it deserves to be full!!   Highly recommended!!

Scout Hut to Stone Row - Saturday 27th August 2011

Thought we would show Val & co the stone row at Drizzlecombe.   Walking along we see Sheeps Tor and Gutter Tor, a few cows and sheep, Eastern Tor and Dittsworthy Warren House to see the tallest standing stones on Dartmoor.

Mount Edgecombe classic car show - Sunday 7th August 2011

An event which attracts hundreds of people.  Weather was forecast to be bad, but it held off til late afternoon when the heavens opened briefly.

Mount Edgecombe House was open to the public at a reduced rate today so we took advantage of that. It is a beautiful house with rooms on the corners in the turrets which are light and airy with lovely views.  In one room elizabethan clothes could be tried on to get you into the spirit.  The house then gives access to the gardens behind it.

KIngston towards Bigbury - Saturday 30th July 2011

We thought we would walk towards Bigbury from Kingston this time.  The weather was hot and we haven't been on a long challenging walk for some time, so we were out of condition for the steep climbs up the cliffs!

We climbed up another very steep cliff to get a view of Bigbury bay.  We were puffed by then and decided we would walk inland to Ringwell from here.

We will walk from Challaborough to Bigbury another time!  The hot weather does make a difference to energy levels!  Anyway, Dave's pedometer recorded 11000 so that's over 5 miles we think!

Mid Devon Show, Tiverton - Saturday 23rd July 2011

The show at Tiverton was heaving!  One stall holder told us there were 18,000 visitors.  The weather was good, and lots to see
