Drewsteignton - Fingle Bridge - Castle Drogo Saturday 6th November 2010

This is getting serious now.  A 6 mile walk.  Rich joined us, and we parked at Drewsteignton in the square beside the pub, church and post office. A delightful post office, by the way, selling everything you need. ( we bought some delicious huge sharon fruit the size of apples mmm)

From the square we walked down the road until we came to a lane marking Moors Way

The lane lead across a couple of fields until we reached the path leading to Fingle Bridge.  The trees are turning colour and they were a sight to see.

Fingle Bridge pub and the bridge are an inviting sight.  As we walked across the bridge, and looked up on the hill behind it, we could see a deer moving among the trees and undergrowth.

The path follows the river and you have to be careful where you tread as the leaves cover the stones and branches.

Admiring the view

Steep steps down to the river again

Bob going mad over a stick!

This suspension bridge crosses the river.  Dave just walked over and back to make a point!! Sorry, Dave, which was???

Tree Hugger!

Yes, Bob, those are labradors not otters.

The wild beast of Drogo caught on camera!
A very pleasant walk, and didn't seem that far.  We must be getting used to it.  A drink at the pub finished the day off nicely.

Tottiford Reservoir - Sunday 31st October 2010

The forecast was for rain, but when we got to Christow, it was driving rain!  I realise I am a fair weather walker! Managed to persuade Dave that we could drive to the Reservoirs and take a short walk around instead of the 6 miles walk planned.

Kennick Reservoir does not have a footpath around it, and is restricted to fishermen.

These Cormorants must have fishing rights.

We found a car park next to Tottiford Reservoir and donned all our wet weather gear and set off.

Still Tottiford Reservoir

I am wet, cold and miserable!

Tottiford Reservoir again!

The walk is under 2 miles and the path is very clear, though muddy on a day like today.  Hardly anyone around ( are you surprised!)  but would be lovely in the summer for a picnic.

Bob was wise to stay at home today!
